SOCCER FOR PEACE COMMUNITY PROJECT
2026/2027 (during Kenya election period)

This is a grassroot peacebuilding project that aims at incorporating nonviolence curriculum in football and use soccer as a tool for peace advocacy in Mathare; an informal settlement in Nairobi. It is hosted by 23 All Stars Football Club based there. Urban informal settlements in Kenya continue to experience structu-ral drivers of violence, including youth unemployment, political instrumentalization, weak civic inclusion and chronic exposure to insecurity. In contexts such as Mathare, young people are disproportionately affec-ted and are repeatedly manipulated during election because of sustained exclusion from community peace, economic, civic and political processes.
